Ember Record

A private Loom alternative, built into the app you already have open. Record your screen, your face and your voice, and Ember writes it up the way it writes up your calls. It arrives in four stages, each one useful on its own.

  1. Stage 1Building next

    Record

One shortcut to record the whole screen, a window or an area, with a round camera bubble you can drag and resize, and your microphone.

    • Countdown, pause, restart and a recording pill like dictation's
    • Camera bubble, camera only, or screen only; pick mic and camera in place
    • Saved on your Mac as MP4, never uploaded unless you share it
    • Transcribed on your Mac, then titled, summarised and split into chapters
    • A new Recordings page beside Meetings, searchable and askable with ⌘K
  2. Stage 2Planned

    Share

Stop recording and a link is on your clipboard before you've switched apps.

    • Uploads in the background while you record, to storage you own
    • A fast, clean viewer page: plays straight away, any browser, no sign-in
    • Clickable transcript, chapters and the AI summary beside the video
    • Links that expire, passwords, and delete-from-everywhere
    • A notification when someone watches, with how far they got
  3. Stage 3Planned

    Polish

Screen Studio-style finish, applied automatically, so a quick recording looks produced.

    • Auto zoom that follows your clicks and typing, with smooth easing
    • A smoothed, enlarged cursor and click highlights
    • Backgrounds, padding, rounded corners and shadows
    • Camera layouts: corner bubble, side by side, full frame
    • Export up to 4K, as GIF, or cropped vertical for social
  4. Stage 4Planned

    Edit by text

Edit the video by editing its transcript.

    • Delete words in the transcript and the video is cut to match
    • Remove ums, false starts and long silences in one click
    • Captions, burned in or as a file, and translated
    • Send a recording into Saved, a board, Notion or Linear with its summary

Same rules as the rest of Ember: recording, transcription and editing happen on your Mac, and nothing leaves it unless you press Share.
